Notes: The point of the balance changes was to change things up, so you gotta change things up, right? Hofstede is an interesting medium-low power laser with a minor instability increase effect, but also a huge optimal window bonus.Jury's out on if this'll be a good long-terms setup, but it's at least a decent starting point until you get a sense of the lay of things and can start crafting your own. That's, uh, kinda a non-starter, and I suspect in fact it exists precisely because they expect you to do this, as a focus 3 module will reduce it to a 20% penalty, which is still not good, but at least isn't worse than the instability you're mitigating. The bad news is it's no longer a lower-power laser focused on support, it's actually a pretty decently strong laser, which is good for taking a larger variety of rocks, but has come at the cost of it now reduces your optimal window by 60%. Notes: For the hardened Quant miner who wants to get some mileage out of their existing setup, good news: Lancet is still good at reducing instability. The "Wait, Why Does My Lancet Suck Now?".Free Fly Special: If you're trying out a prospector on rental, go ahead and grab an Optimax gadget instead for a similar effect-you won't be able to tackle as large of rocks, but it'll make the best of the stock loadout. The only problem is has is a lower power level coupled with a hefty resistance multiplier, limiting the range of rocks you can break, so if you just spent all your money on your prospector, throw the best Regier you can afford on there and you'll have a really solid laser for managing instability and a power level to at least somewhat mitigate the resistance buff you're applying to rocks. Kinda good? I suspect it won't shake out as the best/preferred choice, but it's got a really solid spread of bonuses. Notes: So, uh, fun fact for the old hat miners: the arbor laser is actually.Hope some of you find this helpful! Note that generally, you want to go for grade 2 or 3 modules-the upgrade from grade 1 to 2 on these is basically always worthwhile, while the upgrade from 2 to three is always good, but may or may not be worth chasing down at another station if you're not finding it where you are and just want to get there. All using passive modules, so you can focus on figuring out all of the everything else without having to track module uses and figure out when you "should" use them. I haven't been playing the PTU myself, but I've been doing a fair amount of number crunching and research, and I've made a couple of loadouts that should be easy to get running on short notice for new miners and veterans. I've seen a fair number of people expressing curiosity about mining once 3.19 hits, and with the total rebalancing on mining heads, modules, and rock properties, there's not yet a ton of resources for figuring out, not just what they do, but what sort of loadout would be good in the new world order.
